About Tour Guide Mitsuru(mark) S.

KON-NICHI-WA (Hello) I’m Mitsuru (Mark) Sakai .

I was born in Hokkaido, the north part of Japan.

I moved to Seattle, USA when I was five and the name MARK was given by my classroom teacher then. It was also when I started to learn English, though it was a kid English, still I may using.

I came back to Japan when I was eleven and I experienced difficulties adjusting to new circumstances.

It was tough one.

Though, It forced me to notice the differences and similarities between the two countries.

Definitely these experiences became my precious back bone to be a tour guide still today.

My favorite subject is Japanese history especially regarding Shintoism, Buddhism and samurai-culture.

Also, since I studied architecture in university, I' m happy to introduce you our unique buildings and structures on the way.

However, my most favorite thing above all is to make your trip ever enjoyable.

I’d like to make you feel relaxed, safe and secured.

I wish I could see you someday soon..

Thank you.

Mitsuru Mark Sakai.

National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter.

Great morning in Tokyo

Mark was a great tour guide for our party of 9 including 5 kids ages 10-17. He met us at our hotel and took us to the Fukagawa Fudo Buddhist Temple to see the Fire & Taiko Drum Ceremony. It was an incredible experience. We then visited Kiyosumi Garden and ended the morning at Fukagawa Edo Museum where we learned about housing during the Edo period when Samurai ruled. Mark kept the kids engaged while giving us an interesting tour. We would definitely hire Mark again!

Thank you so much for your kind review. It was my great pleasure to show you my favorite area Fukagawa. Yes one days is not enough to enjoy Tokyo and I truly looking forward to seeing you again. Next time, please let me guide you to Kamakura, Hakone and Nikko.

Great day learning about Japan

Mark was a fantastic guide. Very relaxed and full of information. He was flexible and gave us options as we went along. It was a hot day so we did a variety of indoor and outdoor touring. Would highly recommend Mark as your choice of your guide.

Mark was great!

We were looking for a knowledgeable guide for Tokyo and Mark was everything we wanted. His English is fantastic (actually lived in the US growing up). He took us to several things we would not have found on our own, the best example being a Buddhist religious ceremony which was really something to see. He is also a very nice guy, with a sense of humor. He also chose a great restaurant for lunch. Highly recommended if you are serious about seeing and learning about Tokyo. Kent and Luca

Thank you for your wonderful review. Well, I don’t think my English is that good at all. However, I really appreciate your comment and it’s encouraged me a lot.

Great intro to Tokyo

We spent our first day in Tokyo with Mark and the 8 hours gave us a great overview to the city. Mixed some popular spots with more unique out of the way visiting. Would recommend Mark to others looking to learn a bit about Tokyo and have some fun while doing it
