  • This is Seto Inland Sea and Seto ohashi Bridge. It is in Kojima in Kurashiki City. You can see many small islands there. It is a very beautiful scenery. On the stone monument in the center is written the poem meaning ‘I am on the hill called Washuzan. I see many islands. They are beautiful. I want to take one island as a souvenir.’ If you have time, you can enjoy cruising in the Seto Inland Sea from the port at the bottom of Washuzan Hill.
  • This is an alley between old houses. These houses were built about two hundred years ago, in Edo Period. This area is called Higashimachi , and far from the center of the Kurashiki Bikan historical quarter. It is a quiet place. You can enjoy the atmosphere of the old city Kurashiki.
  • This is Korakuen Park in Okayama City. It is one of three most beautiful gardens in Japan. It was made for the Japanese feudal lord in Edo Period. The castle called ujo 'crow castle' is near this garden. There are some ponds, streams, hills, some houses there. In any season you can see beautiful flowers and trees. It is a very large garden , and you can enjoy walking and a beautiful scenery.
  • Kurashiki was governed directly by Edo Shogunate. So there were some rice warehouses. They are preserved now because Kurashiki wasn't burnt down during the World War.You can see a row of houses and streets about 200 years ago. Many willow trees are planted along the Kurashiki River. A few rice warehouses are used as museums. You can learn various things about Japan when you visit them. In Kurashiki Bikan historical quarter you can see beautiful landscapes of old Japan.

Art Island "Naoshima” one day trip

Naoshima is an art island. There are good art museums in this island, Chichu Art Museum, Benesse House Museum, Valley Gallery, Lee Ufan Museum, and so on. Art House Project in Honmura Area is also interesting. Some of them are made by a Japanese architect, Tadao Ando. They are very wonderful. You can enjoy outside works in the island. The most famous outside works are two red and yellow pumpkins by Yayoi Kusama.

“ A wonderful day in Okayama! ”

We saw a lot on this tour. Important to have an umbrella on hand if touring in June as it rained a bit. Yoko packed a lot into this day which was good. Because it rained the river boats were not operating. We instead walked along the beautiful river bank. Yoko understood and spoke good English.

“ Naoshima Art Island! ”

This is an interesting island to visit. Yoko helped us navigate transportation. It does take a fair bit of time to get to the island including a train from Okayama (which can require a transfer), a ferry and local buses on the island. We enjoyed seeing the red and yellow pumpkins. Yoko knows the island well and was able to highlight key sites and told us about the artworks.

Thank you for your nice review. June is a rainy season in Japan. This year we had a lot of rain. You had a lot of luck. Though the weather forecast said it would rain a lot on both days , we had a little rain and could enjoy the sightseeing in almost all the places without an umbrella. Yoko

“ Beautiful and relaxed day in.Kurashiki ”

We ( my husband, our 19 year old son and I) spent a wonderful day with Yoko in Kurashiki. We met Yoko at Okayama Station and then took the train to Kurashiki. We vistited a doll exhibition, took a gondola ride and Yoko arranged a lunch in an excellent restaurant. It was a relaxed and beautiful day. Thanks Yoko
