Cotopaxi is the highest active volcano in Ecuador
It is located at two hours from the city of Quito. It is within the same name National Park.
To be in 4500 meters above sea level means We can have rain, snow, wind or sun in a variation of 5 minutes. I always suggest you to walk like a baby step by step because it helps to acclimate our body . To be in mountains is a great experience you will feel the power of the nature.

We have to register our names before entering the National Park . We will pick up a local tour guide, it is mandatory for foreigners.
We can walk to get to the refuge on 4864 meters above sea level. It can take 40 minutes. We have to walk very slow like a baby.
It is a place to take pictures and if your are good walkers to do a trekking around it.

• We never know how the weather will be during the day. Normally When we are in rain season volcano could be cloudy and see nothing .
• Bring jacket, gloves, glasses and everything to be in a extreme climate.
• This tour involves some of walking ( 2 hours ) , so make sure to wear comfortable shoes. I suggest you to wear trekking shoes
• Several places we will visit do not accept credit cards, so please bring cash.
• To walk up to the refuge or around the lake your can bring trekking poles.
• Use sun screen block all the time.
• Wear hiking boots.
• If you need to be picked up or dropped off out of Quito let me know before booking the tour.
My family and I had a wonderful day with Gustavo (Gus). He worked with us to plan a perfect day traveling around Otavalo, Cotacachi, Cuicocha Cotacachi Cayapas, and Pegucha volcano waterfalls. We had a great time with Gustavo (Gus) as our guide. Our 1st day of adventure started with an early pick up, To begin our way to Banos with a stop at Cotopaxi. Although all research done prior to our visit advised against doing this type hike with in the first 24 hours of landing, there we where, basking in the beauty of our surroundings while we caught our breath because altitude sickness is very much a real thing. Anyway we did so many activities during our visit like waterfalls, volcanos, hiking, hot springs, edge of the world swings, and Gus knows the best place for Ziplining, and thats just baños. He's very knowledgeable. You can feel free and ask him any question And he'll have answers. His wife is also amazing. Acting as our co-guide for our trip throughout The historical district of Quito. In summary, if you're planning to go to Ecuador and you need a tour guide, you should pick Gustavo. Trust me you will not be disappointed.

Gustavo and his team were on time, helpful, and very knowledgable. They gave us excellent information about the entire city, and made the trips very enjoyable.
Gustavo was excellent!! We spent 2 days with him - and he was very knowledgeable. He took us to middle of the earth, then Quito, then we passed Cotopaxi, then went to Banos. The next day, we also went to the rainforest to our trip - it was so great!! Banos was amazing - and Gustavo as well as our driver, Julian, were both great. Highly recommended!!!!
