We should definitely check out the local shops and markets only the locals know about, that tourists may otherwise overlook. You have a chance to get to chat with the locals and explore the unique flavors at some of these street vendors such as plums, tofu, tea etc.
Subway Minami-Morimachi station
Walk along the longest shopping street.
Visit a plum shop to try Japanese traditional plum pickles and wine.
Visit Osaka Temmangu shrine, one of the biggest shrines in Osaka.
Try richest tofu pudding/ soymilk at a local tofu shop.
Explore a local market
Have a tea time at a tea shop.

My children and I had a really good day leaving central Tokyo to see the some nature in the mountains with Tokie. Tokie took us to places that tourists would find hard to go on their own. It was a wonderful tour, got to see the inside of Osaka Castle, got to eat great food at the Dotonbori District, all while having a really engaging conversation with the tour guide (she spoke perfect English to boot)!
